NPA IN FOCUS

Janice Oman Scotland Representation Manager

NPA centenary The National Pharmacy Association celebrates its 100th birthday this year. To mark the centenary, the NPA plans a series of activities including special recognition for some of its longest serving members. We want to thank all our members in Scotland for being with us on our journey to date – and we look forward to meeting your ever-changing needs long into the future. Visit our dedicated centenary web page by going to www.npa.co.uk/100- years. NPA members who would like to share the history of their own pharmacy, as part of the NPA’s centenary celebrations are invited to contact press@npa.co.uk.

COVID-19 There has been lots of positive publicity about community pharmacy during the last few months, shining a light on the contribution and potential of the sector during the pandemic. The NPA is continuing to support those community pharmacies who are getting on board the COVID-19 vaccination programme. For support and guidance go to www.npa.co.uk/coronavirus- updates.

NHS Medicines Delivery Service The new temporary COVID-19 NHS community pharmacy medicine delivery service started in January to help pharmacy teams manage their additional workload due to the pandemic and reduce transmission points of the virus to protect staff and patients. The NPA helps members to improve efficiency of delivery services in a number of ways including SOP templates, patient posters and Pro Delivery Manager support. Details of the service can be found in the NHS Circular PCA2021(P)01.

NPA member forums We continue to hold our regular Scottish NPA member forums, virtually of course, where members discuss the topics that matter to them most. These conversations inform our working with other Scottish pharmacy stakeholders and enable the NPA to be responsive to member needs in Scotland. Go to www.npa.co.uk/NPAevents for more information.

Post Brexit The NPA has been representing the interests of independent community pharmacy in meetings and discussions with the MHRA and other relevant government bodies. Our key priority throughout the process has been to minimise any disruption to medicines supplies, pricing, and the work of community pharmacy. We have collated official Brexit guidance to help community pharmacists and their staff keep up to date. Go to www.npa.co.uk/brexit to view the latest updates.
