Never content to stand still, our evolution would continue in the 21ST


century.


What began as intercollegiate athletic competitions for women in the 1960s grew into a thriving athletics program. By 1988, we were offering team sports for both men and women. Aſter nine seasons of NCAA Division II dominance (including eight consecutive Top 10 Learfield Cup finishes from 2016–2022), the Royals moved to Division I competition in the fall of 2022.


In the classroom, we began offering some traditionally seated classes online and developed more hybrid courses and even asynchronous learning platforms—all designed to beter serve the changing needs of students. Four additional graduate schools would atract the next generation of leaders.


In more than a century and a half of growth, we’ve changed names, locations, and student-body makeup, we’ve made improvements to campus and courses, and we’ve sworn in new presidents and board chairs.


But amid all that transformation, there is one thing that will never change...
