COMMUNITY TRUST EMPOWERS TAXI DRIVERS TO ACHIEVE HEALTH AND WEIGHT LOSS GOALS

Taxi and private hire drivers play an essential role in our communities, but the demanding nature of the job often leaves them with limited time and opportunities to prioritise their health.

Recognising this challenge, Derby County Community Trust in collaboration with Albatross Cars, has stepped up to support these unsung heroes in their journey towards improved health and weight loss by launching a brand-new community fitness project called Cabbie-Fit.

Through a 12-week programme that includes weekly progress measurement and valuable tips, this initiative aims to transform the lives of taxi drivers by helping them adopt healthier lifestyles.

MEASURING PROGRESS AND PROVIDING TIPS

At the heart of this community trust initiative is the commitment to monitoring the progress of taxi drivers on a weekly basis. Regular check-ins allow for tracking their journey and ensuring accountability. Participants will have access to a range of resources and support, including personalised tips and advice tailored to their individual needs.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS

Throughout the 12-week programme, participants will receive regular tips and strategies for success. These tips will cover a wide range of topics, including managing cravings, making healthy choices when dining out, staying motivated during busy periods, and incorporating physical activity into daily routines. By equipping taxi drivers with practical advice, the community trust ensures that they have the tools needed to make sustainable changes.

CELEBRATING TRANSFORMATIONS

Success stories and testimonials from taxi drivers who have benefited from the programme will be showcased to inspire others. These stories highlight the positive impact of improved health and weight loss, not only on the individual but also on their families, colleagues, and the wider community.
