..IN THE NEWS...IN THE NEWS MINICABIT CAPS 2020 WITH WIN FOR

‘BEST GROUND TRANSPORT’ AT TRAVOLUTION AWARDS

minicabit, Britain’s largest cab compar- ison site, recently won the ‘Best Ground Transport’ category at the Travolution Awards alongside leading travel technology brands such as Trip.com and On The Beach. It’s the third win for minicabit in this category, having also won it in 2019 and 2016 and caps a rollercoaster year for the business in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Just as the first lockdown started, minicabit partnered with the Fishmon- gers Charitable Trust to raise funds for free cab trips for NHS workers to reach hospitals, hospices and mental health centres UK-wide. It pivoted its technol- ogy to enable these specific bookings and the campaign proved a great success, raising over £250,000 and enabling over 3,200 NHS staff in over 30 cities to reach the frontline.

As the country came out of lockdown in the summer, over 100 cab operators around the UK signed up to minicabit to gain more work. This coincided with more bookings being made on minicabit’s platform for out of town trips, given some hesitation in taking public transport, with the average fare booked increasing from £42 before the first lockdown to £52 afterwards. Amer Hasan, minicabit CEO, comment-

ed: “2020 no doubt proved challenging for the whole trade but it also show- cased our resilience. It was heartening to see our customers UK-wide rely on our platform, even for their essential trips during lockdowns, and to see our operator partners and their drivers step up to fulfil them. This award recognises how we’re always pushing our tech forward for their benefit.” Given the shift towards remote work- ing, the demand on minicabit’s platform is still outweighing its avail- able supply and so it is on the lookout for more PH operators to join its plat- form - visit: admin.minicabit.com/phtm And despite the current lockdowns, minicabit is optimistic about 2021, with more partnerships and a focus on electric vehicles amongst many other initiatives in the pipeline.
