SCOTT’S CARS: BROADENING THEIR HORIZONS FOR OVER 35 YEARS
According to a 2017 study com- missioned by the
Royal Mail, Sale was found to be the fourth most desirable town to reside in England. It used to be in Cheshire; nowadays it is in the metropolitan borough of Trafford. No, it hasn’t moved; this was as a result of the major overhaul and rearrangement of authority boundaries back in 1974.
Apart from being one of the most desirable districts in the UK for famous footballers to set up residence, Sale is a thriving, enterpris- ing area with a fascinating history. Part of that history involves road transport, and part of that history includes Scott’s Cars.
Scott’s Private Hire was originally incorporat- ed by one man, Tony Scott, approximately 35 years ago. The present owners, brothers Mohammed Zubarat Ali and Hamed Ali, pur- chased the company in 2012 along with their father, Mr Choudhary Khizar Ahmed Ali, when it consisted of just 22 cars. Since then the company has continued to grow from strength to strength and now boasts a healthy 180 vehicles.
Since purchasing Scott’s Cars the brothers and their father have gone on to purchase another three medium-sized bases located in north Manchester, south Manchester and the city centre.
With the industry experiencing numerous challenges and periods of uncertainty over the past six years, this growth is impres- sive. The brothers are aware that they couldn’t have achieved this success on their own however, and are quick to acknowledge the commitment and hard work of the team in the office and the hun- dreds of drivers who represent their brand across Manchester.
That team includes not only CEO Mr Ali Senior and the Ali brothers but also Manager Steven Tilston, Account Manager Nicola Wil- son, and Driver Recruitment Manager Bilal Ahmed; along with nine dispatchers, 11 tele- phonists, and five other admin- istrative/maintenance staff. Together they cope admirably with over 20,000 bookings weekly on average.
Beam me up Scotty – how appropriate!
You know what’s coming: no transport provider can survive in these hi-tech days without the backing of a top notch booking and dispatch system. Scott’s Cars relies firmly on Autocab for this: they have the latest Phantom system installed, which they use alongside the Autocab Driver Companion. Together they make it the most reliable, effi- cient and customer/driver friendly system around.
What’s more, they have recently signed up to Autocab’s iGo network which takes their reach even further. Now when their cus- tomers visit other cities, they’ll still be able to use Scott’s Cars Passenger App. Their pas- senger simply books a taxi as normal and the iGo network looks after everything else. As Mr Ali points out: “We wanted to be able to look after our customers wherever they trav- elled. Using the iGo network, we now can.”
This is just one of the ways Autocab is help- ing to drive growth for Scott’s Cars. As Mr Ali continues: “We made the switch from a fixed system to Autocab’s Ghost Cloud in Febru- ary this year. This move has given us so much more freedom and flexibility.”
They aren’t finished there though. As well as upgrading their booking and dispatch system, Scott’s Cars have also taken the decision to switch to Autocab’s Phantom phone system. “We were looking to increase our automation levels and made the move to Phantom. The IVR and ABOP settings allow our customers to book exactly the way they want.” In fact

the IVR and ABOP are already running auto- mated at approximately 30 per cent.
So once again we have an established taxi and private hire firm – Scott’s Cars now run both private hire and hackneys on the fleet – that has embraced modern technology alongside the more traditional attributes of customer service and high standards.
As Mr Ali explains: “We began with the belief that [the provision of] taxis and minibuses could be done better. The focus of our compa- ny is the delivery of a high standard, cost effective service to all our customers. That we have now expanded to cover the whole of Trafford, Manchester and even Cheshire and beyond, shows we are doing something right.”
We believe that their ever-expanding cus- tomer base would agree.
