Libby Hall.

Jacob Roberts.

preparing for this reading. I loved doing it, and the kids loved it too!

Since Stories of Care, I’ve felt confident enough to step further into the world and direct myself towards experiences that bring me joy and fulfilment. I’m now a part-time Bookseller and a part-time student at the Open University, studying English Literature and Creative Writing. I’ve written a middle grade fantasy novel and am working on a young adult novel that marries my love for D&D and queer culture, which I hope to begin querying later this year. I’m also a Contact Theatre Future Fire and will be funded to publish a collection of fellow neurodivergent creatives’ poetry, fiction, and illustration for children.

Libby Hall

Hi, I’m Libby Hall, an actress and writer. I grew up on a council estate in Salford where I climbed trees, played football and stayed up reading until way past my bed time. From the age of 10, after performing in a school play, my mam and dad realised I had a passion for acting and started paying for me to attend acting classes across the road from our house, at Salford Arts Theatre. Since then, I have spent nearly every Saturday at Salford Arts Theatre, where I now work full time.

It was here that I discovered my writing could be more than just a secret hobby, and that I could also share my work! At the age of 16, I wrote my first play, which went on to win two Greater Manchester Fringe Awards and a Salford Star award. Shortly after, I became Salford Arts Theatre’s first ever writer-in-residence and I’m currently developing my fourth play for them.

Last year, my ex Spanish teacher sent me a writing opportunity – the chance to apply to be a participant with Stories Of Care. Apprehensive at first, never having written for the seven to 12-year-olds age group, I only applied at the very last minute. It has been just over a year later, and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself and my career.

Not only did Stories Of Care give me my first publishing credit, they also taught me so much about writing, the writing process and gave me life-long friends. I’m very proud of the anthology and of my short

story Nana’s Magic Medicine, which is the semi- autobiographical tale of a young girl navigating the breakdown of her family after a tragedy, and the subsequent health anxiety she is left riddled with.
