Whilst touching on the subject of surveyor specialisations, the much vaunted and eagerly anticipated Accredited Marine Surveying Practitioner scheme that has been under development for some time is advancing well. To complete the project in readiness for launch, we are looking for specialists to join the assessor panel, individuals who can review as


themselves to ensure competency. Please have a read about who we are seeking in the bulletin and put your name forward to be considered.


If ‘heavy’ committee work is your thing, IIMS is looking for a member to represent the Institute at future British Standards Institute (BSI) committee meetings following the retirement of Peter Morgan. Sadly, but unsurprisingly, we have taken the decision to cancel the remaining face to face events scheduled for the rest of 2020. Whilst this is disappointing, we are now working to deliver two days of great content at the end of the year as part of Marine Surveying Fest III. Watch out for more details coming soon and if you would like to deliver a presentation on a topic of your choosing, please let head office know.


Following the recent completion of the purchase of Murrills House as our permanent HQ, I have received a number of requests from members asking to make a donation to the renovation fund in exchange for a plaque to be displayed on the wall of the Boardroom.
