Practise 10mins
Children are all given a card containing a previously learned word. Children walk around to clapping or music, then stop and hands up, pair up. Children read each others cards then trade and the process repeats itself a few times. Teacher and TAs must try and hear children reading and correct misconceptions or errors.
Segmenting for Spelling - Write a Caption Apply 5mins
Share an image of a cat and a fat rat and have children try to write a caption on whiteboards or paper.
