Learn and practise letter / sound b. Recall 


 Hear Phonemes - Share 3 images or objects beginning with phoneme b (bbb letter.


 Teach grapheme and alliteration caption ‘b


 Lowercase formation caption: Top to bottom, up to the middle and round.


 Formation of grapheme - Trace b in the air.  Decoding – 

Blending for Reading - Bingo Practise 10mins


Give pairs of children a bingo board to share, with ‘b’ words using vowels they have already learnt, and read aloud words. Children can add a counter or mark their bingo board if they have the word. 


 Segmenting for Spelling - Write a Caption Apply 5mins


Share an image of a bun in a bag and have children try to write a caption on whiteboards or paper. 


Sing ‘Baa, Baa, Black Sheep’. Read ‘Bog Baby’ Jeanne Willis.


End of Session


Draw ‘b’ in a variety of sizes and media, for example using chalk to draw on the ground. Make grapheme with playdough.  Make a Bog baby.
