PUBLIC SECTOR LOANS APPROVED Honduras. U$20 million. Northeastern Small Producers’ Economic and Social Inclusion Project – PROINORTE. To enhance incomes and living conditions for some 70,000 people through organizational strengthening, technical assistance, and building and/or upgrading rural infrastructure, and providing over 10,000 cookstoves.
Madagascar. US$10 million. Mangoky River Bridge Construction (RN9). To help reduce rural poverty in the southwest by building a bridge to improve transport. Access roads and other social infrastructure will also be built, benefiting some 2.4 million people.
Maldives. US$50 million. Outer Islands Harbors, Water Supply and Sewerage Facilities. To boost health and living conditions for approximately 20,000 people residing on 13 islands. Also planned is harbor reconstruction to improve inter-island travel, the import of goods and aid local fishing industries.

Senegal. US$65 million. Dakar – St Louis Coastal Highway (Dakar – Tivaouane Section). To improve access to public services and jobs by building a 63 km highway and seven interchanges, benefitting 1.4 million people.
Suriname. US$26 million. Expansion of Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Systems. To build a new 36 MW power plant and upgrade an existing one, as well as expand transmission and distribution networks. Around 320,000 people will benefit.
Uzbekistan. US$53.96 million. Improvement of Water Supply in Yangikurgan District and the City of Namangan. To replace/rebuild water supply infrastructure for approximately 185,000 people. This will improve living conditions and public health.
GRANT APPROVED Improving Rural Water Management in Chad. US$300,000. To be channeled through the Islamic Development Bank, this grant aims to enhance access to safe drinking water for rural populations in Chad’s pastoral areas, benefiting around 14,000 people.
RESEARCH GRANTS APPROVED International Energy Forum (IEF). US$50,000. To support the participation of 50 delegates from Africa and 15 speakers and trainers at the 4th IEF-OFID Energy Poverty Alleviation
Symposium and JODI Training Workshop held from April 29 – May 3 in Cape Town, South Africa.
International Water Association (IWA). US$50,000. To support the participation of 40 delegates from developing countries at IWA‘s 9th International Young Water Professionals Conference to be held in Toronto, Canada, from June 23 – 27, 2019 and IWA’s 6th Water and Development Congress and Exhibition taking place in Colombo, Sri Lanka from December 1 – 5, 2019.
United Nations Register of Damage caused by the Construction of the Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (UNRoD). US$200,000. To cover the final phase of outreach activities in communities in and around East Jerusalem; this will include assisting with claim filing, providing technical assistance and collecting and delivering completed forms to UNRoD’s office in Vienna.
