Exeter’s location at the head of the River Exe Estuary, just 10 miles from the coast with excellent rail links makes getting outdoors and exploring the surrounding area easy. It is perfectly placed for exploring Devon’s famous beaches, countryside and Dartmoor National Park.

Take a scenic rail journey from Exeter to Exmouth or Dawlish Warren, to go from city to sea in under 30 minutes! The Dartmoor Line connects Exeter to Okehampton in 40 minutes, a gateway town to the wild expanse of Dartmoor National Park. From here, there are several walking routes which allow you to experience Dartmoor’s sweeping views and lofty granite tors.

The nearby coastal town of Exmouth is the oldest seaside town in Devon, and the start of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Take a boat trip out to sea with Stuart Line Cruises to get the best views of the vibrant red and burnt orange of the ancient Triassic rock of Exmouth’s coastline.
