“a small city with lots of character”

The Arts are well represented here, from quirky independent venues such as the Bike Shed Theatre and Cygnet Theatre supporting new writers and unusual events, to bigger established acts appearing at the Exeter Corn Exchange, Great Hall and Exeter Northcott. Exeter is also a big hit musically with some internationally renowned bands (think Coldplay!). either having met or first performed here.

The diversity of the city’s venues continues to reflect its exciting and expanding music scene, from indie bands at Exeter Cavern, live music at Exeter Phoenix and in the pubs on Gandy Street and the Quayside, to large-scale concerts and outdoor festivals at nearby Powderham Castle and Westpoint Arena.

The historic Exeter Cathedral is home to many cultural events, including classical concerts.

Visit the Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) for a broad spectrum of touring exhibitions, themed events, community displays and fine art from the city’s own immense collection.
