I am proud to bring theatre arts to East LA parks.”After gaining extensive experience coordinating sports, cultural arts and recreation programs, Martin embraced the opportunity to advance his skillset by taking on administrative assignments to support the work of frontline recreation staff and the department. He is part of the Department’s eBrochure team that creates a quarterly online magazine where the public can review programs offered. He recently became a contributing writer for the eBrochure.Martin places special emphasis on build- ing collaborations with community partners, is a lead staff in monitoring his Agency’s budget, and performs many other tasks that are critical to operating well programmed parks. He balances his role as a manager and creative influencer by forging a career that continues to be transformative for


those he serves. LA County Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer early career pathways for youth such as Martin who are our park leaders of today and tomorrow.


YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM: The goal of this program is to introduce young people to the workplace, enabling them to gain valuable employment skills and earn an income. In addition, youth receive 12 hours of “Personal Growth” training to help them acquire some of the basic “soft skills” necessary to succeed in the workplace. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a certificate of Work Readiness, as well as valuable work ex- perience that will help them succeed as an employee with Los Angeles County, or in any other field of their choice.
