Growing the College | GIVING MAKES A REAL IMPACT
> MTC officially opened its new Veterans Success Center for service members and veterans to connect and network. A campus hub for veterans in terms of outreach and community resources, the center is also home to the college’s VetSuccess on Campus counselor. Midlands Technical College was one of only 50 colleges nationwide awarded funding for such a project.
> Bridging the Gap Scholarship Funds were awarded to 40 students who otherwise would have not been able to continue their studies. The individual awards ranged from $300-$370 and helped bridge the gap between the cost of attending college and a student’s available financial aid.
> The MTC Foundation granted 13 awards for curriculum development through research, program development, equipment, and professional development. By providing funding to support new initiatives, MTC students benefit from the development of programs, services, and innovative teaching approaches these awards provide.
Making Lives Better | GIVING MAKES A REAL IMPACT
> The MTC Foundation provided more than 274 awards, scholarships, and grants totaling $229,000. Students received academic and continuing education scholarships, grants, emergency aid, division support, and general awards.
> Midlands Technical College and the MTC Foundation recognized many of the college’s top loyal supporters and partners during its annual Celebration of Partnerships. Individuals and companies were honored for achieving significant levels of giving in the Foundation’s 1974 Society and the Harbison Society. Midlands Technical College received funds from many corporations and foundations such as Colonial Life, the Gene Haas Foundation, Bank of America, and the Wells Fargo Foundation.
> Michelin North America donated $35,000 to provide equipment for the MTC Mechatronics Technology Certificate program at MTC. In recognition of the commitment, MTC named its Mechatronics Laboratory the Michelin North America Mechatronics Laboratory. In addition, the Flex Foundation awarded the Midlands Technical College Foundation $20,000 to provide tuition assistance for students who wish to enroll in MTC,s Advanced Manufacturing program. MTC named a classroom in its new Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Crafts Center after the Flex Foundation in appreciation for the gift.
