What America

ith the holiday season nearly upon us, the time is right for some specialty cocktails. And Paul Feig is just the man to serve ’em
up. In addition to directing such hits as Bridesmaids and Spy, creating the comedy series Freaks and Geeks and directing (and act- ing in) episodes of The Office and Arrested Development, Feig happens to be a master
mixologist. His new book, Cocktail Time!, is a compendium of classic drinks and his own creations. Feig’s book grew out of his “Quaran-
tine Cocktail Time!” Instagram videos, in which America’s favorite “Drunk Funcle” donned his best threads to demonstrate making a cocktail to entertain followers stuck in COVID lockdown. Here he shares two of his favorite drinks—a Grasshopper and the Golden Dawn.

I really liked him,” says Feig. “At the end, he gave me a bottle of his gin [Buckingham Palace Dry Gin, available only in the United Kingdom], and I gave him a bottle of my gin. I actually made martinis for him] Ão ½Ûi m>`i m>ÀÌinià voÀ > kin}° `iwniÌilÞ h>Ûi Ìo «ÕÌ Ìh>Ì on mÞ résumé now.” Whose gin is better? “Let’s just say all gins are wonderful in their own way.”
Go-to tipples A very dry gin martini with a twist, stirred (not shaken, so the ice doesn’t dilute the gin), is his standing order. He’s also a fan of gin and soda (“It’s one of the best skinny drinks you can have”). And he enjoys sampling signature cocktails at bars and restaurants around the world. “For mi] i̽à VonÃÌ>nÌ ÀiÃi>ÀVh Ìo wn` Üh>̽à Ìhi niÜ Ìhin} >n` Üh>̽à moÀi vÕn and what's going to surprise people.”
