Tina Snyder’s Safe Haven Equine Warriors (SHEW) received $500 to go towards its Hoe- down For Horses Fundraiser. SHEW is a volun- teer-run rescue that, as it explains on its website, rescues, rehabs, re-trains and re-homes equines either suff ering from abuse and neglect, or in im- minent danger of slaughter, abuse, or neglect. Its Hoedown for Horses event is SHEW’s marquee
fundraiser every year that it is always held in a great venue – fun is reli- ably had by all.
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS MHC is thrilled to welcome Becky Maticic and her New Leaf Acres
farm in Carroll County to the MHC family. A horse person since age 10, Maticic started her business in 2014 shortly after becoming a widow. Her mission ever since has been to help others overcome fear and adversity in their lives through “reassurance, skills development, education on all aspects of horsemanship.” In addition to lessons and training services, pony parties, clinics, hunter paces, and trail rides, she also runs a MAN Camp for boys ages 9 to 15 to learn basic farm and life skills such as changing tires, using tools, and operating small equipment. Welcome!
