Did you notice a diff erent sort of continuity among our three social media platforms this past month? T at we actually had a plan? And per- haps left, right, and center were communicating and sharing? We hope you did, because we do, and they have been! Rather than sharing the social media wealth among three diff erent Equiery staff members, we have reined it all in as the responsibility of one Social Media Manager. We are still just getting our feet wet, turning share options on...and then

Cashman’s mission to hand-deliver a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, in memory of the grand- daughter he lost to cancer. But he didn’t go by plane, train, or automobile

FHI’s 4* Countdown

T e countdown to fi nding out if Fair Hill In- ternational will be hosting a CCI4* event start-

ing in the fall of 2019 is almost over, as the FEI makes a fi nal ruling at the end of this month during its annual meeting in Spain. Although the FEI is the governing body that decides the international eventing calendar, improvements to the Fair Hill grounds have already been approved at the local level with construction set to begin right after the spring Fair Hill Races in 2018. “T ese renovations will go on as scheduled

even if the FEI does not vote in favor of the four-star at Fair Hill,” said Terry Hasseltine of the Maryland Stadium Authority. “Several permits are already being processed for phase one of the Master Plan.” Phase one includes the widening of the turf racetrack, installing an irrigation system under and around the track, construction of competition rings in the infi eld and construction of the four-star track. If everything goes as planned, the fi rst FHI

4* would take place Columbus Day weekend in October of 2019. “T at is the weekend we have requested as we think holding it on a holiday weekend when people are able to travel will bring in new spectators that might not know much about the sport,” Hasseltine explained. He went on to say that if the FEI suggests a diff er- ent weekend that works better for the interna-

to Memphis, he rode his mule, Homer. All the way from Maryland. We posted about his journey the day he left town, on October 8, and at press time, this video had a following of 15,800 Facebook followers. Also in the news last month was the Goshen Hounds’ Mackenzie Tay-

lor, who, with Dr. and Mrs. Frank Becker’s Rita, won the T eodora A. Randolph Field Hunter Championships (VA) on her very fi rst try! 9,300 of you engaged in our post of her winning photo from 10/14! Finishing third (but still “in the money”) was a share of an online

newspaper article we discovered, about a casting call for a movie. A mov- ie called Billy and Blaze, being made from the 1940’s C.W. Anderson children’s classic by the same name. Clearly we hit a nostalgia nerve for many of you. T e link we shared on 10/4 had a following of 8,600.
