Discovery Senior Living, based in Bonita Springs, Fla., broke ground on an indepen- dent living community, Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay. Amenities include restaurants, a movie theater, and a fi tness club. It has 198 apartment homes and is expected to open in fall of 2021.


Guardian Pharmacy of Jacksonville, a locally owned member of Atlanta-based Guardian Pharmacy Service, has acquired the long- term care division of Atkinson’s Pharmacy. The newly acquired pharmacy will operate as Guardian Pharmacy of Jacksonville and will continue serving existing providers and residents. The expansion increases the phar- macy’s resident customer base by more than 30 percent. Rob Allen, CEO and president of Atkinson’s Pharmacy, will continue working with Guardian, and employees from Atkin- son’s Pharmacy will join the Guardian team.

Brentwood,, Tenn.-based Brookdale Senior Living CEO Lucinda “Cindy” M. Baier has been invited to join the New York Stock Exchange Board Adviso- ry Council. Baier will
