TYPES OF CONTAMINATION
Frost, clear and rime ice, slush and snow are considered aircraft surface contamination when they adhere to the surfaces.
Frost:Moisture forms ice crystals
Ice: Clear Ice - Large supercooled liquid drops that freeze clear on contact.
Rime Ice - Small supercooled liquid drops that freezemilky on contact.
Slush: Partially melted snow and ice. Snow: White flakes of ice.
Frost, clear and rime ice, slush, freezing drizzle, freezing rain, rain on cold soaked wings and snow can all have the potential of freezing and adhering to any aircraft surface. When these forms of moisture adhere to an aircraft surface, they are considered aircraft surface contamination.
