Taking tech to the classroom
Estate agent Yopa is offering support with its innovative Tech for Schools programme, which is funding primary schools to bring new technology into the classroom. Parents and friends of participating schools are invited to sign up for a Tech for Schools sponsorship board to be posted outside their home. For every ten boards, the school will receive a new tablet. Matthew Irving, head teacher at
Whitelands Park Primary School, tells us: ‘Tech for Schools is such a
welcome initiative for us. This past year, access to high-quality technology has been more important than ever to schools and their pupils, and now we have three brand new tablets from Yopa. ‘The initiative was easy to run and
required little effort on the part of our families, who were delighted to be able to support the school. It’s an effective way for schools and businesses to work together to support education.’ Visit

TREE-MENDOUS FUNDRAISER
The ‘real versus fake’ Christmas tree debate comes around every year, with one of the factors putting many people off a real tree being the cost – garden centres often mark up their trees by as much as 200%. But the Christmas Trees for Schools scheme, run by specialist company Trees for Christmas, aims to save parents money and top up your PTA pot at the same time. Covering London, the South East, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, Trees for Christmas will supply your school
with trees at wholesale prices. The PTA sets the mark-up and parents can buy a premium-grade tree at a great price. Last year more than 130 schools ran the scheme, which has been operating for over 20 years. There’s minimal paperwork and no
upfront payment. And it’s perfectly safe as everything happens outside, meaning there’s no more social contact than the school run. Full details are available on the
