Jon Bryant, senior licensing offi cer, Mid Sussex District Council says: You do not need a TEN to include alcohol in a raffl e and any alcoholic prizes cannot be given to under 18s. Raffl es held during school fetes are generally

covered by the rules in respect of ‘Incidental Lotteries’. All ticket sales must take place during the event but the draw may take place afterwards. In respect of a ‘virtual raffl e’ where you are selling tickets prior to the event to members of the public or advertising your raffl e outside of the premises in any way, again you do not require a TEN but this is likely to fall under the terms of a ‘small society lottery’ and a Small Society Lottery licence will be required.
