Our Skills for Life and Learning courses are perfect for those who need to improve their Maths and English skills to progress at work or get onto their dream course at college or university.
GCSE Maths
& English September start*
These courses are free, and are available in the daytime or evening. They are designed for adults who may not have studied for some time and who lack confidence. There are no entry requirements. In the first few weeks we will assess your progress and recommend either a one-year or a two-year GCSE option. If you follow the two-year route you will gain a qualification in Functional Skills Level 1 in the first year, developing your skills and confidence, and then progress to the GCSE.

Do you find Maths scary and challenging? Do you struggle with numbers at work or in your daily life? Do you lack confidence to help your children with their homework? Join a class where you will work at your own pace in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Gain new skills and confidence, as well as a qualification in Functional Skills Maths.

Gain confidence and new skills in a friendly, supportive environment where you can work at your own pace towards a qualification in Functional Skills English.

Pre-Access Study Skills
Do you feel your study skills could do with a boost before you enrol on an Access course?
Our Pre-Access Study Skills course is perfect if you’re thinking of returning to education and want to build up your confidence and skills.
The course will help you make decisions about your future, and prepare you for progression to further study – with the staff that teach the course running the Access to HE and Foundation Degree courses, too.
This course is free to learners progressing onto an Access to HE course.

English for Speakers of Other Languages £122 per term
Improve your confidence to communicate in English at work, in education and in your social life. Meet new friends from all over the world in a relaxed atmosphere and gain a qualification at one of five levels. There are no entry requirements. An initial assessment will determine the correct level of class for you.
