Previously, Knutson served as executive vice president of TSYS and president of International Issuer Solutions, based in London. Prior to TSYS, Knutson was CEO of Clear Money, a provider of electronic bill management services to UK billers and fi nancial institutions. Knuston has held a variety of leadership roles across the global payments industry, with companies such as GE Capital and Visa.


Horizon Software, provider of electronic trading solutions and algorithmic technology, has announced that it has hired Damien Jenner as the new EMEA senior sales executive. The ex-HSBC senior manager is a veteran in fi nance with over 15 years’ experience in global markets, and was previously head of Americas, risk and P&L at HSBC in New York.


Jenner brings signifi cant experience and knowledge to Horizon as the company continues to expand. Previous roles included positions at HSBC France, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Commerzbank. With his global and diverse credentials in quant analysis, fi nancial engineering and interest rate derivatives, Jenner is expected to quickly become a valuable asset for Horizon and important resource for its customers.


The Smart Cube, a provider of research and analytics solutions, has announced the appointment of Gaurav Kumar to the new role of COO. Kumar fi rst joined The Smart Cube as a research analyst in 2005, working his way up to associate vice president, before joining Fidelity Investments in 2012 to grow its analytics and market intelligence function. In 2015, he was selected to join Fidelity’s elite GMA leadership program, involving four rotations across global operations. After completion, Kumar was appointed to the position of director of digitisation, which focused on leveraging analytics and technology to enhance customer experience.


Mastercard has announced that JoAnn C. Stonier will become its chief data offi cer. In this newly created role, Stonier will oversee the curation, maintenance and management of the company’s strong data assets as Mastercard increasingly looks to deepen the value it can provide its merchant, banking and government customers and cardholders through its analytics capabilities.


“Data is foundational to everything we do, from processing transactions to customer analytics to cutting edge technologies like artifi cial intelligence,” said Kevin Stanton, chief services offi cer at Mastercard. “Our chief data offi cer will ensure that data is acquired, available, reliable, consistent and accessible in a manner that advances our business and maintains the high level of trust people and our partners have in Mastercard.”


Saxo Bank has appointed Ulrik Ross as head of group treasury. He will report directly to Steen Blaafalk, head of group fi nance & risk (GFR), and will be part of the global management team in GFR and Saxo group’s senior management team.


In his new role, Ross will assume the overall responsibility for all treasury activities, including managing the bank’s liquidity and professional bank and broker relations.


He will also be responsible for pricing the bank’s capital and liquidity resources, as well as contributing to a strategic approach to both source of funds, taking industry and regulatory changes into account in a proactive manner. A key part of his responsibilities is to be very client focused, and in particular interact with the group’s white label partner clients and institutional clients.


The new senior hire most recently served as managing director global head of public sector and sustainable fi nancing at HSBC in London, where he successfully implemented a client and product focused growth strategy, which gained HSBC multiple fi nancial markets awards.


Prior to this, Ross spent six years at Nomura International, where he led the debt capital markets division for Northern Europe, CEE and Southern Africa. Ross initially worked as a treasury and funding specialist in Denmark and Finland, prior to the long career in London.
