ACCA Wins Lawsuit Against EPA that Impacts Contractors’ Business!

THE AIR CONDITIONING CONTRACTORS OF AMERICA (ACCA) announces that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (the Court) ruled in favor of a lawsuit to which it is party to by striking down provisions of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) allocation rule that would ban the use of non-refillable cylinders and require QR code tracking of refrigerant cylinders. The Court’s final opinion on the lawsuit can be read here: https://accanow.net/44cKaGy. “ACCA is thrilled that the Courts sided with us in the law-

suit on the disposable cylinder ban and QR code tracking,” said Barton James, ACCA president & CEO. “We knew the EPA was overstepping its authority with this ban and track- ing method, so partnering with other leading trade asso- ciations to fight against it was an easy decision. With this big win, contractors will not have to waste money on new equipment when there is already an option available that works with their current setup. ACCA is proud of this win, and we will continue to fight for contractors to be able to run profitable businesses without burdensome regulations.”

ACCA AND ROCKY MOUNTAIN GAS ASSOCIATION (RMGA) FORM ALLIANCE

ACCA and the Rocky Mountain Gas Association (RMGA) are pleased to share that RMGA has become the 22nd Allied Contracting Organization (ACO) to affiliate with ACCA. RMGA promotes the advance- ment of heating, venting, air conditioning, refrigera- tion, hearth, and plumbing contractors across Utah and Southwest Wyoming. With this addition, ACCA’s Allied Contracting Organizations now serve 29 states and the District of Columbia. ACOS are independent associa-

tions that partner with ACCA on the advancement of the HVACR indus- try’s technical excellence, business success, and legislative and regula- tory goals. While ACCA and RMGA memberships remain separate, both organizations will promote the value

of investing in a strong representation of the HVACR industry at the local and national levels. “The Rocky Mountain Gas Association is pleased to

partner with ACCA and promote the HVACR industry in our state,” says Scott Carpenter, President of RMGA. “We see the value of becoming one of ACCA’s ACOs with the full confidence we can create a lasting part- nership for the betterment of all of our members.” “We are pleased to welcome Rocky Mountain

Gas Association as our 22nd ACO,” said Barton James, ACCA president and CEO. “We know contrac- tors’ voices are stronger when ACCA national com- bines our efforts with state and local organizations. We believe this new relationship will help contractors in Utah and Southwest Wyoming be better repre- sented on all levels.” “Saying yes to an alliance with ACCA was the

easiest decision for us to make,” says Jamie Schum- acher, Immediate Past President of RMGA. “Our board members, along with ACCA’s board, are volun- teer contractors and suppliers who are always seek- ing ways to bring value to the industry, so this is a winning combination.” This agreement will help both organizations better

represent and support contractors in Utah and South- west Wyoming through a unified voice on legislative and regulatory issues and better cross-promotion and reciprocal discounts on educational programs.
