ACCA’s New Strategic Plan: A Map to Our Future

ON JULY 18, 2023, the ACCA Board of Directors com- pleted and adopted a strategic plan that will guide ACCA’s actions and endeavors over the next five years. You will be hearing a lot about this as we work to implement this plan, but today, I’d like to give a quick introduction. In our constantly changing world, ACCA members

and staff must work together to become and con- tinue to be primary resources for both contractors and consumers. In addition, we will be working to identify and prepare industry and association lead- ership to be forward-thinking and equipped to iden- tify and meet future challenges. For ACCA to be the recognized voice for contractors and the industry, we will continue to promote quality workmanship through training, marketing, and advocacy. ACCA’s Credo for contractors and our nation’s

skilled air conditioning and refrigeration workers will be: “If you are looking for a trusted partner who will stand in the gap, guard your interests, and guide you and your team to business success, we welcome your active engagement as a member of the ACCA community.” Air conditioning and refrigeration are essential

ingredients for life itself. Unlike products that can be factory produced, delivered, and plugged in, air-con-

ditioning systems and many refrigeration systems include customized sizing, designing, selecting, and then assembling on-site in person by qualified spe- cialty workers. ACCA will advocate for these workers that need to

be found, educated, trained, and financially rewarded for the important services they provide. ACCA under- stands and will work to help labor, environment, and energy policy setters to understand the important role HVACR contractors and their workers must play in minimizing energy use while maintaining and improv- ing our quality of life. ACCA’s ANSI approved Quality Standards for installation, service, and maintenance, and our widely respected design manuals will be available for schools, contactors, and policy makers as resources that can shape our industry for a future of providing comfort while reducing energy waste. In summary, Essential, Essential, and Essen-

tial are the answers. The question: What role will HVACR workers, HVACR contractors, and ACCA play in our nation’s future? If you are looking for a career where you can make

a difference and have pride in your accomplishments, consider an HVACR career. If you are a contractor who wants to help build a better industry, join and support ACCA as your trusted partner!

Dr. Stephen Pape, Ed.D, MBA, is a second-generation HVACR contractor from DeSoto, TX. He currently serves as Associate Dean of the Construction Sciences Division at Dallas College School of Manufacturing & Industrial Technology. He is also the owner of Pape Service Co., Desoto, TX.
