Council On Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters
By Leonard Suiter, DC
the following points in your consideration. As we all know changes are taking place in healthcare affecting how doctors are being paid. There is an increased scrutiny from differing opinions regarding appropriate care. We believe that a uniform approach by the profession using evidence-based clinically defensible care pathways is the best way to deal with this problem. The potential effect would be these guidelines. Your members would have a defense for the reimbursable care they have provided. Additionally, we continue to encourage all chiropractic colleges to teach, promote, and endorse these important guidelines as well. Since these are evidence-based, your association will be promoting improved care leading to improved clinical out- comes. Improved care and outcomes demonstrates our value to the current healthcare system. Value based payments are coming, so there has never been a better time to demonstrate our value.
T
Association owned networks are becoming an important strategic step in many states. Endorsement would set up our profession to build “clinical integration” which is an import- ant element for these association owned networks. Last, but most important, the process CCGPP has devel- oped is a living breathing process that will evolve over time as new clinical research is published. It is the mission of CCGPP to continue to provide the profession with the best care pathways/clinical guidelines using the most current lit- erature. The ACA has formally adopted these papers and the states of Vermont and Minnesota without being asked went ahead and endorsed them as well. We are asking you to add your state association to the list. The board of CCGPP would like to thank each and every state association for placing this important step on their agenda to discuss at your next state association board meet- ing. Contact us with any questions or if you need any further information. We are here to support you.
