PROJECT: WIRE WRAPPED RING

5

8

5: ADJUST YOUR RING SIZE Use a ring mandrel to adjust the ring to the correct size and smooth out the wire. Remember the size will decrease a small amount when wrapping the ring wire.

6

8: COIL AND CUT YOUR WIRE Keep tightly coiling the wire around the ring shank until the wire has reached the other side of the ring. Once the coils reach the bead, cut the wire down short and then tuck the wire end into the bead on the inside of the shank. Be as neat as possible with this part as a high standard of finish will help elevate the look of the ring.

6: WRAP YOUR WIRE Start wrapping the wire, starting with the longest side of wire. Neatly wrap the wire in tight circles around the ‘shank’ of the ring. Take your time with this – the neater and tighter the wraps, the stronger your ring will be.

7: CHECK ON YOUR WIRE While wrapping the wire, regularly check it is neat and coiling in the chosen style. Bent nose pliers are very helpful for gently nudging the wire into place.

9: POLISH YOUR FINISHED RING Gently rub the ring over with a polishing cloth if you have one to hand. This project can be repeated with different beads and wire widths to create different and interesting looks.
