ENCOUNTER PENGUINS AT BOULDERS BEACH WESTERN CAPE Penguins are usually associated with Arctic conditions, so the opportunity to swim with these adorable creatures on a sun-drenched beach is not to be missed. The water isn’t as cold here as on the Atlantic side of the peninsula, so you can take your time splashing between the eponymous boulders. DON’T MISS: Pack some goggles, as seeing African penguins ‘fly’ past your nose underwater is truly thrilling.

GALLOP ALONG THE BEACH AT COFFEE BAY EASTERN CAPE Coffee Bay is one of the world’s most remote and wild beaches, perfect for unplugging from the modern world. For an added thrill, feel the wind in your hair as you take a horse ride along the surf. Afterwards, hit the waves with a surf lesson provided by one of the nearby surf schools. DON’T MISS: Exactly what it sounds like, ‘Hole in the Wall’ is a striking natural fissure in a massive rock out at sea.
