After an extensive renovation in 2019, DAS EDELWEISS Salzburg Mountain Resort now includes a modern
building with spacious
suites decorated in a sophisticated alpine style. Along with this, there’s the 7,500sq ft EDELWEISS Moun- tain Spa, which features an indoor water park, two outdoor pools, numerous saunas and separate areas for families and adults. Guests can enjoy award-winning ‘mountain cuisine’, using local ingredients, in a number of fantastic restaurants and cafes.
Incredible location With its location in scenic Grossarl Valley, DAS EDELWEISS Salzburg Mountain Resort is in the heart of Salzburg’s impressive mountain- scape, surrounded by spectacular views and serving as an excellent starting point for outdoor activi- ties. T e resort is just a few metres from the gondola station, providing direct access to Austria’s famed Ski amadé winter sports area, which has 470 miles of slopes. In summer, numerous hiking trails and moun- tain bike trails lead into the alpine wonderland of Salzburgerland, with its clear mountain lakes and 40 well-maintained mountain huts. T e historic city of Salzburg — the former home of Mozart — is just over 40 miles north of Grossarl and well within range for a day trip.
Architecture and design DAS EDELWEISS Salzburg Moun- tain Resort underwent a substan- tial renovation between 2018 and 2019, one of Salzburg’s largest ever construction
projects. T e main
house was completely renovated with painstaking attention to detail and supplemented by a new building that blends harmoniously into
the surrounding hilly landscape. Working with interior designers Köck + Bachler has resulted in a spacious room with large front windows and a spa area. Earthy tones and natural materials
such as stone, glass and wood provide a warm and cosy atmosphere to relax in. T e lighting design includes creations from Macchina della Luce by Catellani & Smith. T e luxury resort now has 145
rooms and suites — all designed in a modern alpine style — numerous restaurants, an alpine bar and lounge, Kork & Gloria wine bar, the Churchill cigar lounge, a spacious ski depot and an event area. T e three penthouse suites are
a particular highlight, with two bedrooms and bathrooms, cosy seating areas and spacious terraces with mountain views. T e Top Suite, Highlight, is considered to be among the largest of its kind in Salzburger- land, and features a private, external pool. T e EDELWEISS Mountain Spa sprawls across fi ve fl oors and is the heart of the resort. T ere’s also a handy ski-hire shop and Edelweiss Fashion, which sells stylish clothes and accessories.
Edelweiss Mountain Cuisine T e award-winning Edelweiss Mountain Cuisine is headed by family member and chef Alex- ander Hettegger, who attaches great importance to the use of local produce and culinary variation. Among other delights, there’s a breakfast buff et set out in market- place style and a salad buff et for dinner, which includes freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice. Also in the evening, guests can
choose from a regional, vegan or international menu and sit back and relax in one of the six lounges.
Gourmet restaurant Petrus off ers fi ne dining, while meat-lovers will fl ock to Sirloin Grill & Dine for mouthwatering red-meat dishes that will blow guests’ mind. Wine connoisseurs will get their money’s worth in the wine bar Kork & Gloria, which off ers fi ne wines from an extensive cellar. Also bringing his skills to the hotel is Laos-born chef Alexis Savanx, who has years of experience in Asian fusion cuisine in restaurants and luxury hotels around the world. He showcases his prodigious cooking skills at Kork & Gloria and spoils guests with stun- ning sushi creations.
Edelweiss Mountain Spa T e wellness oasis has two outdoor pools that are spread across fi ve fl oors and off ers separate areas for families with children and adults. Families can head to the Family Mountain Spa, with its indoor water park with fi ve water slides on two levels. In addition, there’s a large indoor pool with baby and toddler area, cuddle corners and play facil- ities. T e family-friendly sauna area includes a bio sauna, a Finnish sauna, an alpine sauna, an aroma steam bath, an infrared cabin and a whirl- pool bath. T e
adults-only Mountain Spa
is located in the new building and features a panoramic sauna, infi nity pool, saltwater pool and cosy relaxa- tion rooms with lounging areas and mountain views. T e stylish SPA Bistro provides
guests with healthy snacks and fresh juices. Sports enthusiasts can train with Techno Gym equipment in the fi tness area or participate in active classes in the exercise room. Swim- mers will enjoy doing their laps in the outdoor sports pool, which has panoramic views.
