T e Irish Cultural Centre (ICC) is based in Hammersmith, London. It has been the home of Irish arts and culture in the UK for the past 29 years. T e venue’s state-of-the-art building houses an impressive performance auditorium, a modern bar lounge, Irish library, art gallery and multiple meeting spaces. As primarily a cultural enter-
tainment venue, the ICC’s exten- sive events programme includes concerts, fi lm screenings and exhibi- tions across all art forms, including: music, fi lm, theatre, literature and visual arts. It has hosted many notable guests, such as HRH King Charles III, Van Morrison, Dara Ó Briain, Colm Tóibín, Edna O’Brien, Mary Black, Eddi Reader, Moya Brennan, Ardal O’Hanlon, Adrian Dunbar, Altan, Ralph McTell, Mary Coughlan, Martin Hayes, Sharon Shannon, Chris O’Dowd, Stephen Rea, Tommy Prine, Fergal Keane and more. In addition, the centre off ers formal courses in the Irish language, Irish dancing and music lessons in traditional Irish instruments, such as bodhrán, fi ddle, fl ute, tin whistle, harp, concertina, singing, guitar, banjo and mandolin. Hammersmith also presents a vibrant and inclusive community programme for all to get involved with. Community activities include afternoon tea dances, singing, knit- ting and craft groups, exercise classes, poetry meet-ups and a free weekly traditional music session. T e centre also off ers specifi c crea- tive workshops and courses in crea- tive writing and theatre discussion groups. T e majority of the events are all family friendly and the centre also runs specifi c events for children such as puppet making and story- telling.
