M.C. Escher is the world famous artist who created surreal depictions such as two hands drawing each other, water that fl ows upwards in a water mill and men walking endlessly around a castle’s courtyard. These and his earlier Italian work can be seen at the Lange Voorhout 74 in The Hague in the former Palace, which was inhabited by four consecutive queens: Emma, Wilhelmina, Juliana and Beatrix of Orange-Nassau.
