One in eight people go hungry, while food is wasted in the UK
A child starting the school day without breakfast. A parent skipping meals so their child has something to eat. A pensioner choosing between warmth and food. This shouldn’t be happening, but food distribution charity FareShare encounters stories like this every day
while good food goes to waste. It doesn’t have to be this way. Not today and not tomorrow. Every year, some 250,000 tonnes of perfectly edible food is wasted.

UK and while there’s surplus food that’s otherwise going to waste, FareShare believes this food should be used to feed people first.
FareShare is the UK’s national
network of charitable food redistrib- utors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, they take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to more than 10,500 frontline charities and community groups. Please remember FareShare in
your Will. You’ll be enabling the organisation
to re-direct surplus food to charities and community groups who work with some of the most vulnerable chil- dren and families in the UK. FareShare provides the equivalent of four meals for every £1 donated, so you can be confident your gift will go far. *Name changed to protect privacy.
