Did you know? • Armenia was the first country to adopt Christianity as a state religion in 301 AD.
• Te capital city, Yerevan, is more than 2,800 years old (older than Rome).

• Areni-1 Winery is a 6,100-year-old winery that was discovered in 2007 in the Vayots Dzor region of
Armenia. It’s the oldest winery in the world discovered to date.
• Te world’s oldest leather shoe, which dates back to 3,500 BC, was also discovered in the Areni-1 cave complex. Tis 5,500-year-old artifact was perfectly preserved, as it was stuffed with grass.
• Wings of Tatev is the world’s longest reversible cableway (18,870ft). It’s the most impressive route to the beau- tiful and mystic Tatev Monastery.
Cuisine — from farm to table Located at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, Armenia’s cuisine is a rich melting pot of culinary delights. Here you can find fresh fruits and vegeta- bles straight from the garden, dairy and meat from local villages, and seasonal herbs to spice up every meal! Cooking meals with organic
produce has created some of the best traditional Armenian dishes. Te
luscious summer fruit season begins in June in Armenia: apricots, pome- granates, grapes, peaches, plums, and watermelons are especially deli- cious. Te country’s sun-kissed fruits can also be tasted in the forms of dried fruits, jams, wines, brandy, and eau-de-vies.
