Cooking with a view

The growing interest in nature and the outdoors isn’t just the result of the past two years’ restrictions and cancelled travels, but also a natural counterforce to our society’s accelerating pace. It’s not a trend; it’s a course correction that could potentially save humanity from derailment

W

hen we’re outdoors, we automatically

slow down and adapt to the pace of

nature, engage all our senses and ease the mental clutter caused by overstimulation in our daily lives. Our bodies know that, and that’s why more and more of us are yearning for that feeling of wellbeing that spending time in nature so generously gifts us. Tat feeling, combined with cooking over an open flame, takes us right back to what’s always helped humanity survive and adapt, since the beginning of time. It’s a primal survival instinct. Trangia has for generations encour-

aged people to get outside by offering a compact and complete cooking solution for the outdoors. Te Trangia stove system was developed in the early 1950s, but the design was made to last for a generation, or three, and has therefore not changed much over the years. Te Trangia factory has been operating from the same tiny village in northern Sweden for almost 100 years, and it still offers spare parts to all stoves. For Trangia, obsoles- cence is an unfamiliar concept. Outdoor cooking isn’t just for

camping and bushcraft enthusiasts — it’s for people of all ages, back- grounds and cultures. Trangia is for everyday people and everyday adven- tures from basecamps to backyards, faraway peaks to local parks. So, what makes outdoor cooking so different from cooking at home? Well, being

outside ads a few more elements to the whole experience, such as weather and a view. Te driving force behind the

Trangia brand has always been to make moments in nature more acces- sible to more people, and to inspire people to do more of what makes them feel good. Tere’s so much scientific evidence on how nature aids our well- being. It gets us out of our heads, and that’s something we might need to be reminded of from time to time. Tere are many things in life we can’t control and that sometimes makes us feel anxious or powerless, like the current situation in Ukraine or the state of our natural environment. What we can do, however, is to take control of our phys- ical and mental health by spending more time in nature, and through that, add some much-needed calmness to the world. Humanity, as a collective, is much better equipped to deal with the above mentioned challenges from a relaxed state of mind. With that said, take some time to really embrace the outdoors this summer. Tere’s no need do everything or be everywhere, except to relax and breathe some fresh forest air. When you get hungry, you know what to do, and it’s even better, if you invite your friends to come and cook with you. It’s moments like this that we live for!
