DESTINATION SPAIN!

Spain has come out as the top destination for holidaymakers this summer, followed closely by Bulgaria, Turkiye, Malta and Portugal…

BY KIRSTY JOHNSTON kirsty@nitravelnews.com

RECENT reports have shown that Southern Europe remains the most popular holiday destination choice, with more holidaymakers opting to travel to Spain, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Malta and Portugal than anywhere else. Spain

has been tipped as

the most popular holiday destination for 2024, closely

followed by the sunshine hotspots of Bulgaria, Turkiye, Malta and Portugal.

Renowned for its crystal clear

blue flag beaches, mild climate, laid-back lifestyle and high standards

of accommodation

and gastronomy, Spain has long been been one of the most attractive holiday destinations for many.

Holidaymakers are consciously seeking out “high standards

of accommodation and service” as well as “great

value”, in their holidays with late getaways also being popular.

That’s according to

reports from local NI travel agents.

Brendan Mallon, Development Manager

Retail at

Oasis Travel said: “We’ve been seeing a significant interest in enquiries for late getaways with July being the most in demand departure month, while August and September are also proving extremely popular. “We have found that our

clients are still wanting to experience high standards of accommodation and service whilst also enjoying great value. Our experienced team have been hard at work sourcing the best available options at the best possible prices.”

Consumer data shows that travel remains a top priority in 2024 with both European and long-haul travel spending seeing a significant increase.
