Women in Travel CIC Launches Bespoke Female Leadership Programme for Travel Trade


RateHawk Names New UK Chief New Appointments


RATEHAWK.COM, an online system for booking hotels, air tickets and transfers for travel professionals, announces the new appointments in its UK and Ireland commercial team: Chantal Tomlinson joins RateHawk as the Head of business development for the UK and Ireland, and Laura Harrison joins as Strategic business development manager. With these new hires, RateHawk follows its ambitious plans for further expansion in the UK and Ireland.


Chantal Tomlinson joins with over 25 years of experience in the tourism industry. Having worked with companies such as Flexible Car Hire Limited and Lastminute. com, Chantal has a proven track record in senior sales and business development roles within travel trade companies and OTAs. At RateHawk, Chantal will lead day-to-day operations, overseeing the commercial team of 16 people, driving business growth, and strengthening the company’s market share.


SOCIAL enterprise Women in Travel CIC launched LeadHer, a bespoke female leadership programme for businesses and individuals in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. The programme is educate,


designed to


engage and facilitate the advancement of women into leadership positions, and is available now for travel businesses to add to their 2024 Training and Development strategies. It aims to address the continued gender pay gap and disparity in senior roles in the sector through a three- pronged approach, looking at individual leadership skills, leadership within teams and organisations,

influence across the wider industry. Conceived and led by Women in Travel MD and Founder Alessandra Alonso and Lucy


Ferguson PhD, Gender Consultant to the UN and Founder of Fabulous Feminists, the initiative is tailorable to specific business needs and was piloted by Intrepid Travel at a recent event in Valencia.

The training included interactive sessions, group mentoring and the development of both individual objectives and a company manifesto to drive progress in female leadership. It also included opportunities for collective mindfulness and ideas-sharing with group dinners and outdoor yoga. The programme has already had tangible positive outcomes, with participant Ance Svajnzger – who described the training as “inspirational” – successfully applying for a role as Intrepid’s General Manager, Eastern Europe, as a result of the confidence and skills acquired.

Karen Cameron Named Deputy Head of Trade at Ambassador Cruise Line


AMBASSADOR Cruise Line has announced that Karen Cameron has been promoted to the position of Deputy Head of Trade as the no-fly cruise line looks to further enhance the exceptional levels of service it provides to agent and trade partners. Karen joined the business as Divisional Sales Manager – North in February 2023 with oversight of trade business in the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. She will start her new role on 1 July and will be tasked with leveraging existing commercial relationships to maximise sales opportunities while ensuring trade partners have all the support and tools they need. Reporting directly into Nicola Harper, Head


of Distribution, Ambassador Cruise Line, the role will see Karen manage various trade members and key partnerships with the emphasis on revenue generation and relationship building.
