Travel Solutions Commences Summer Charter Service From Belfast City Airport
July/August 2024
Warned to Ensure Travel Insurance is Up-to-Date Ahead of Peak Holiday Time
ONE in four UK holidaymakers, aged between 18 and 43 years, the generations known as Gen Z and Millennials, have travelled abroad with no travel insurance putting themselves, and their finances at risk, compared to only one in seven (16%) of over 43s (the Gen X and Baby Boomers), according to a new Opinium survey*. The 2024 survey* commissioned by
Multitrip.com, a specialist travel insurance provider, uncovers some common misconceptions about travel insurance including the fact that over one in three (34%) wrongly believe that travel insurance is not needed in Europe for medical problems if you have a UK Global Health Insurance Card or GHIC (previously known as European Health Insurance Card EHIC) compared to one in seven (15%) of over 43s. One in five (21%) of Gen-Zers and Millennials also mistakenly
say that travel insurance isn’t needed for short trips abroad, compared to just over 4% of over 43s. While 20% of Gen Zers and Millennials admit that they don’t know whether travel insurance is needed for short trips abroad. Christian Bennett at
Multitrip.com says: “Some people think

on the high seas and almost one third of us have not done so in the past five years. For example, 39% of
those questioned don’t expect to find a spa onboard while at sea, 27% are unaware they can watch the latest movies in a cinema and almost 20% do not realise your four- legged friend can enjoy the high seas in a pet cabin.
EasyJet Introduce New Technology Which Could Prevent Long Delays
EASYJET is replacing Paper Technical and Cabin Logs previously used by cabin crew,
engineers, ground crew
and flight crew with the new e-techlog system, which will be rolled out across its 346-strong fleet of aircraft during 2025. The move represents another
way the airline is trying to reduce its operational waste, with the transition expected to save more than 300,000 sheets of paper from being printed and stored every year. Additionally, the new e-techlog system will help
streamline the maintenance reporting process for flight crew, cabin crew and engineering – enabling easyJet to increase line maintenance productivity in the process.
Bolstered by real-time flight
and cabin crew reports, easyJet have said the new system will help with fewer ground delays, lowering aircraft maintenance times to enable greater aircraft availability and ultimately less disruption for passengers. David Morgan, Chief Operating Officer at easyJet, said: “Rolling out Ultramain’s state-of-the-art
technology across our fleet of aircraft will not only improve the reporting processes for our crew and engineering teams but will also see fewer delays on the ground, which will help further enhance the travel experience for our customers. “Our continued investment
into innovative solutions like the e-techlog means we’ll not only find quicker solutions to defects but by cutting our paper use and the weight on the aircraft, we are also taking another small but important step to reduce our environmental impact too.”
they don’t need travel insurance when travelling, but they really do particularly as we’ve seen a significant rise in the cost of overseas medical expenses in recent years.” “It’s good to have a UK Global Health Insurance
Card (GHIC) for trips to Europe, but it will never replace travel insurance. The card will only cover emergency health treatments while travel insurance extends coverage beyond medical costs, protecting your travel investment even before departure. Travel insurance will cover irrecoverable expenses if you must cancel due to unforeseen events, or help you replace lost luggage and travel documents.” The survey also reveals some other mistaken beliefs about travel insurance, including the fact that it is cheaper if you buy it last minute. One in five (21%) Gen Zers and Millennials wrongly believe this to be the case, compared to 3% of over 44s.

holiday on the Greek island of Zakynthos when the accident occurred. Her family are now issuing warnings to other travellers. The family had arrived at
their all-inclusive hotel on the paradise island for a week in the sun before hiring two €125 quad bikes through an external company so they could explore the island. But on their journey back from the Blue Caves on day three of their holiday, Holly claims a car travelling at 50mph slammed into the back of her quad bike, sending her flying through the air before she landed on her face. After the accident, Ms Thomas was dashed to hospital where she underwent a brain scan and received stitched in her head. Her mum, Alison Wilson, has issued a warning
to other British holidaymakers advising them to ‘think twice before hiring a quad bike’ abroad and to ensure they wore a helmet if they do as she says it’s what saved her daughter’s life that day.
