Institute Offering Candidates Six Intern Scholarships Awards
T
his year, multiple scholarship awards are being offered from the Investment Casting Institute. Three of the six scholarships being offered are in honor of individuals. A scholarship in honor of William (Bill) Johnson
sponsored by his son, Bob Johnson of Shellcast, Inc. of Montague, MI is being offered this year.
Johnson stated,
“With success, I felt a strong need to recognize those who were most influential to me and it was clearly my father. My wife, Pat, and I hope that the scholarship, along with Bill’s story of hard work and dedication, will inspire today’s students to achieve their career goals.” A scholarship in honor of the late Larry Blum, product
engineer at Aristo-Cast will be awarded and sponsored by Aristo-Cast of Almont, MI. Blum’s knowledge and experience has been a benefit to the entire industry. Aristo-Cast CEO Jack Ziemba, who knew Blum for more than 30 years, indicated he consistently demonstrated creativity in meeting challenges, and patience in teaching others what he knew. And again this year, a scholarship in honor of the late Hank Harvey, former president of Tech Cast, LLC and ICI
Board Director will be awarded and sponsored by his widow. Harvey was instrumental in the development of the Intern Scholarship Program. The Institute is now accepting applications and
scholarships will be awarded at the Institute’s 63rd Annual Technical Conference and Expo in Columbus, OH this October. The company sponsored internship must be comprised of a meaningful work experience at a competitive wage within the
student’s major. It must have stated
objectives and outcome for the students, and must be 10-14 consecutive weeks duration. In addition to participating in the internship, qualified students must be juniors or seniors majoring in engineering and technology, business and personnel, or environment and safety. They must maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale. Each applicant is required to write a 500-word career objective statement which will be printed in the December issue of INCAST magazine.
