The future depends entirely on what each of us does every day; a movement is only people moving. GLORIA STEINEM

LAW FOUR: INVESTING

Some people call this law the principle of “Seed Money.” It means putting aside 10 percent for the future. Thou- sands of years ago, the farmers saved 10 percent of the crop for seed. Most of the successful people I have interviewed practiced tithing, or giving 10 percent of their income (after taxes) to a worthy cause. This reinforces the first two laws: creating a vacuum and getting into the flow of giving. Experiment for six months and watch the results.

LAW FIVE: AFFIRMING

Put your goals into a positive form. “I will see 10 prospects this week.” “I will increase my cold calling by 20 percent.” Express the goal as if it is already true. This is a positive way to program your mind.

LAW SIX: VISUALIZING

A few years ago, my husband had an opportunity to be on a quiz show, with a grand prize of a one-week cruise for two. We made ourselves a mock treasure map, cut out a picture of the cruise ship, mounted it on posterboard, and wrote beneath it: “We are now enjoying our cruise.” We studied this “map” for weeks until the day of the quiz show. My husband won...the portable dishwasher. Two months later, though, we were asked to audition for a promotional film on a cruise line. We won the audition: a week’s cruise in the Caribbean, and also received a two- week cruise for two anywhere in the world.

LAW SEVEN: CONTRIBUTING Remember: You are unique. You have something special to offer your workplace, your family, your community. We all want to feel we are making a difference – that we matter. Each of the successful people I interviewed felt he was making a contribution of time, talent, or money to better his community.

These laws of success can work for you. It takes a com- mitment to practice them, a new way of thinking to clear the clutter, a willingness to risk. You deserve the very best, so find ways to invest something in your future. Affirm and visualize those goals for success. And share your talent with the world. Your contribution does make a difference. 
