ahrain has a thriving sports and events scene, from motor racing to big-time basketball tournaments. There are
some world-class facilities, including the Bahrain International Circuit, which hosts the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix every year. There’s a strong sporting scene across the
country, so travellers can get a taste of some of the locals’ favourite hobbies. Football is undoubtedly one of the most popular sports, while basketball, volleyball and handball also attract participants. And those who prefer to stay active on the water have a variety of watersports to choose from, from solo activities, to participating in a dragon boat race.
Pedal to the metal The Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix, taking place
at the Bahrain International Circuit, is one of the most prestigious and exciting races on the Formula 1 calendar, attracting a large following each year. It is the first race in the annual calendar, taking place in March or April, and it’s held in the evening, so those watching at home don’t miss the spectacle. In 2004, it became the first Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East.
