Hays to expand Travel House’s product range

Juliet Dennis

Miles Morgan Travel managing director Mandy Shillito’s role has been extended to helping sister agency Travel House expand its range of cruise, long-haul and touring holidays. Both the 20-branch Miles

Morgan Travel agency, based in the southwest, and 16-branch south Wales agency Travel House are part of the Hays Travel group. Travel House, known for its

expertise in the short-haul and family package holidays market, already has a regional sales manager and divisional manager overseeing day-to-day operations and sales. Shillito’s remit will now include

introducing new suppliers in the touring, long-haul and cruise markets to Travel House to increase the agency’s sales in these sectors. “We will introduce and market

products in line with Hays’ company strategy to grow long-haul and cruise sales while still enhancing Travel House’s core family and short-haul sales, which they are brilliant at,” said Shillito, who added: “I am excited to have this opportunity to support another brand in a positive way.” Shillito said extra training on new products was likely to be rolled out for

Seaside Travel puts Milburn at helm of homeworking arm

Fast-growing agency chain Seaside Travel has recruited former Hays Travel homeworking director John Milburn to run a new UK-wide homeworking division. The new arm of the company

had been inundated with requests from agents about the possibility of joining as homeworkers. Owner Nicola Park said: “I’d

always thought about it, but when I met up with John and discovered he was looking to get back into travel, it was a no-brainer.” Milburn worked for Hays for

Travel House agents to support the move, which will aim to attract a new demographic to the agency chain. “Staff will get the training and

support they need and will benefit from this. We will also be doing more targeted mailers as we look to attract a new demographic to the shops and raise the profile of the Travel House brand,” she said. Jane Schumm, Hays Travel retail

director, said: “Mandy has been a huge asset since she joined our Hays Travel group; it’s an absolute pleasure to work with her and her brilliant team at Miles Morgan Travel. “I know she will add real value in

her expanded role, and our excellent Travel House colleagues are delighted to be working with her.” As part of the changes, two new

dedicated marketing staff have been taken on for Travel House. They are based with Miles Morgan Travel’s marketing team in its Chepstow head office. In addition, Tom Mayo, who has

been working outside the sector in recent years but is a former deputy manager of Miles Morgan Travel’s Gloucester store, has been taken on as regional sales manager. He will work with Shillito to strengthen the Miles Morgan Travel brand further.

homeworking said: “I’ve known and loved Nicola for 21 years and the opportunity to work for Seaside Travel, still a family-run business and a trusted brand, is so exciting.” Milburn said he would look to

take on some business development support once the first cohort of homeworkers is established.
