CHANGES FOR 2019

NEW REGIONAL AWARDS For the first time, the AAAs will honour the best agencies across the island of Ireland, with suppliers asked to vote for their top partners in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The introduction of the Republic of Ireland Agency of the Year award reflects the importance of the Irish market to a growing range of suppliers, as well as the increased engagement of Irish agents with Travel Weekly’s portfolio in print and online. The regional awards are also bolstered by the addition

of small and large categories for the East of England Agency of the Year, which along with the established Central England categories, will showcase the best agencies in the West Midlands and the East Midlands and East Anglia.

NEW INDIVIDUAL AND SECTOR AWARDS Building on the success of Travel Weekly’s annual Take Off in Travel publication and its coverage of apprenticeships in the travel industry, a new category has been introduced to recognise the Apprentice Leisure Agent of the Year.

This award, which like new apprenticeships is not

limited by age, will stand alongside the existing Young Leisure Agent of the Year award, which will continue to recognise agents aged under 20 on April 11 who are not apprentices. Also new is the self-nominated Atas Ambassador of

the Year award, which will be judged by a panel of Atas members and will recognise the agent who has done the most in the past 12 months to support the growing sector and the members of the Association of Touring & Adventure Suppliers. It will stand alongside a new sector award for Touring and Adventure Agency of the Year.

NEW EXCELLENCE AWARDS Reflecting the need for agencies to develop a multi-channel digital approach, previous awards recognising excellence in websites and social media usage have been combined to honour two Digital Champions of the Year. The self-nominated accolade – one for small agencies and one for large agencies – will recognise the agencies that have done the most
