Tui releases pictures of river cruise ships ahead of launch

Ben Ireland

Tui has revealed images of its three river cruise ships as it prepares to launch its new venture for the winter market. The launch of Tui River

Cruises, due this summer, was postponed until November 26 because of Covid-19. The operator’s three adult-only

ships – Tui Isla, Tui Maya and Tui Skyla – have been refurbished in a “boutique style” ahead of their debut sailings, a series of Christmas market itineraries. Each vessel has capacity for about 150 passengers. Tui’s winter river cruise

schedule also includes New Year itineraries and its debut programme runs to April 2021, after which a full summer programme is to begin.

32Number of itineraries offered by Tui River Cruises

New onboard health and safety

measures have also been put in place as the line prepares for its launch following the Foreign Office’s lifting of its travel advice against river cruises. To accompany the sailings, Tui

has unveiled a Little Extras Package of winter excursions, available from £35. Numbers will be limited for the time being, and tours can be cancelled within 48 hours. Passengers on the debut

programme will receive a £120 credit per seven-day itinerary to use

towards shore excursions, of which there are 150 on offer. Each of the vessels features two

restaurants with floor-to-ceiling views of the river, and two bars. There is a choice of seven cabin

types, with three cabins for solo travellers and 36 suites. Cabin carpets are made from recycled fishing nets. Tui River Cruises offers 32

itineraries along the Danube, Rhine, Moselle, Main and Dutch and Belgian waterways, with durations ranging from three to 14 nights. Chris Hackney, managing

director of cruise for Tui UK & Ireland, said: “We’re working hard to get ready for our first sailings. “With so much to discover on a

river cruise, we’ve put exploration at the heart of our offer.” tui.co.uk/river-cruises
