Trade-first fashion event to support young leaders
Travel Weekly reporters
Travel Weekly is teaming up with Intrepid Travel, Avis, Silversea and Hyatt for an industry-first fashion event designed to support young female leaders within the industry and raise money for charities with projects supporting women. The Travel Weekly Inspiring
Women Fashion Forward showcase is designed to give those starting out in their careers the opportunity to build a professional wardrobe by purchasing items donated by established leaders who are keen to ‘pay it forward’. It will also feature an address
from an inspirational speaker with links to the fashion industry, and the opportunity for young team members to network with and be inspired by the women at the forefront of travel today. All proceeds from the sale of
items – ranging from workwear to evening attire and accessories – will go to charities including the Intrepid Foundation. The event is the latest addition to
a growing Inspiring Women portfolio, which includes lunches featuring guest speakers from outside the industry, a Rising Stars seminar and lunch, and an annual overseas Retreat.
The invitation-only gathering
will be hosted by Hyatt at the Andaz London Liverpool Street hotel on April 27, expanding a partnership that also sees the hotel giant hosting the Inspiring Women Rising Stars lunch. Lucy Huxley, editor-in-chief
of Travel Weekly, said: “This event is a unique concept in the travel industry and will be another positive addition to an Inspiring Women portfolio that continues to go from strength to strength. “Alongside our Rising Stars
lunches, this evening of networking and inspiration will support young industry executives and a number
FCDO advises against all but essential travel to west of Mexico
The Foreign Office updated travel advice for parts of Mexico on Monday amid rising levels of violence following the killing of a drug cartel boss. The information advised against all but essential travel to states and cities in the west – away from Gulf of Mexico resorts such as Cancun – but it warned security incidents had also been reported in tourist areas in Quintana Roo and Oaxaca.

Seaside At Home ‘on track to top 100 homeworkers’
Seaside At Home is on course to surpass 100 homeworkers this year as it hailed a strong response for its first upcoming intake of 2026. The high street agency’s
homeworking division was set up last year and has 57 agents currently. It already has 15 agents signed
up for its first induction of 2026 in March, which will be its biggest to date and push numbers over 70. Further monthly intakes are planned for the rest of the year. After posting the latest
recruitment drive on its Facebook page last week, Seaside At Home received almost 100 applications. Head of homeworking John
Milburn said the group had been particularly impressed by how well first-time travel homeworkers had performed and was taking on slightly more in this intake as a result. “We have been really impressed
and seen some really good successes with new-to-travel recruits so that’s given us more confidence to take on more,” he said. Previously, about 25% of each
intake had been recruits without industry experience, but the March figure was closer to 40%, he added. In total, about 550 people have
applied to join the homeworking division to date. The group is likely to recruit an additional BDM as it grows beyond 75 home-based agents, he added.
US suspends global entry operations due to shutdown

In a U-turn, it said TSA PreCheck lanes would remain open but “the TSA will evaluate on a case-by-case basis and adjust operations accordingly”.
Record snowfall on US East Coast affects more than 5,500 flights
Almost all flights from key US East Coast hubs were cancelled on Monday as record snowfall hampered travel. More than 5,500 international and domestic services were affected, with the FlightAware tracker showing 98% of flights from LaGuardia and 91% from JFK cancelled. Parts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts saw 37 inches of snow, with 19 inches in New York’s Central Park.
