Emma Savage @TCEmma Savage Travel Counsellors I’ve got a feeling that 2021 is going to be great for travel. So many people I’ve spoken to really want to travel – me included. And many missed out on a break this year.

The best of your letters, comments and social media this week John Hays: One of greatest
Story: Hays Travel founder John Hays dies Such very sad news. We have lost a champion of people and a champion of the high street travel agent. John was an outstanding businessman, but always knew when it was time to put people before profit. He stands as one of the greatest figures of the British travel industry, indeed the greatest I have known. My sympathies go out to Irene, his family and everyone at Hays Travel. David Dingle, chairman, Carnival UK
Testing: Start date delay
Story: Testing regime from December 2 will be ‘challenging’ The Global Travel Taskforce seemingly is yet to send its recommendations to No 10 and that is where the ‘health overlays’ are likely to be applied to a DfT proposal. The thorny issue of ‘how many days before testing?’ will be debated, as will the question of where these private tests will take place. A December 2 start date is completely unrealistic.
