SPECIAL AWARDS Outstanding Contribution Award: Steve Dunlop Penny Akam Unsung Hero Award: Lisa Read, Hays Travel Innovation in Travel Award: Zen3

yers at Globes

Cross said to win three Globe awards was “hugely special”, after picking up Best Short-Haul Airline, Best Short-Haul Tour Operator and Best Trade-Friendly Brand. “The trade is really where our

focus has been over the past nine years and we couldn’t have had this success without their support,” he said. “We will continue to do lots more with the trade this year.” Karen Fletcher, head of trade

sales at Gold Medal, which won the Best Long-Haul Operator and Best Consolidator awards, said: “We have had a lot of change this year from a senior management point of view, so to be recognised in this way by the trade means the world to us, not just to the team on the road, but the call centre team.” Super Break won Best

Accommodation-Only Provider and Best Operator UK Holidays. Outgoing national sales manager Graham Balmforth said: “It’s fantastic to win two awards tonight, having won two last year, thanks to the great support we get from agents. The fact that agents have supported us again is just fantastic. The whole business

works hard to keep in close contact with the trade. Winning this is the reason we do it.” Attraction World walked off

with the Best Add-Ons Provider and Best Trade Sales Team awards. Head of sales Simon Garrido said: “We are over the moon to win two Globes – we really do appreciate all the support of our trade partners.” There was a slight change to the

categories this year with separate awards for adventure and activities. The Best Adventure Operator accolade went to G Adventures, while Inghams took the award for Best Operator for Activities. Rachel Coffey, G Adventures sales director for the UK and Ireland, said: “It’s such a growth sector, so it’s really exciting for us. Adventure is what it means to each person; it can be different for everyone. It’s not about jumping off a cliff but about taking someone out of their comfort zone.” Inghams head of sales Simon McIntyre said: “We’re ecstatic to win in a tough category against tough competition. We rely on agents and this is a real vindication of what we do.”
