Royal’s revamped Club Royal Plus agent app ‘makes selling easier’

Royal Caribbean International is enhancing its agent app in the UK and Ireland in two phases. The newly-named app –

Club Royal Plus – will initially give members exclusive news, notifications and the opportunity to claim rewards in return for bookings. Members will be able to access the app using facial recognition software. Agents can earn up to £15 each

time they log a booking through Club Royal Plus. The money is transferred to their personalised digital Mastercard. The second phase will see the

launch of “short and engaging” training modules in the app’s knowledge hub, the line said. Agents can advance through

membership tiers to increase benefits, including unlocking prize ballots and incentives. Stuart Byron, Royal Caribbean

sales director for the UK, Ireland and Spain, said: “We want to make their job easier. The app gives agents everything they need to succeed in selling Royal Caribbean cruises conveniently and efficiently.” myclubroyal.co.uk

Oasis Overland targets trade for multi-country tours restart

Juliet Dennis

Oasis Overland is to restart multi-country trips for the first time since it was bought out of administration. The adventure operator plans to run four Nairobi

to Cape Town overland trips this year and is targeting a significant hike in sales through agents to plug the gap left by the “hibernation” of rival Dragoman. Oasis Overland ceased trading in February last

year due to the pandemic, but was relaunched in May after its acquisition by Uncover The World, parent of Encounters Travel. The company, which does not sell the flight element,

ran some trips to Pakistan last year but Covid restrictions delayed the restart of multi-country tours. The first will be the 75-day Nairobi to Cape Town Grand Adventurer on March 28, which last ran two years ago.

Singapore Airlines resumes Heathrow

schedule and partners with Loganair Singapore Airlines will resume a full schedule from Heathrow to Changi airport on June 2. It also unveiled a partnership with regional carrier Loganair. Seven Loganair services will connect to Singapore Airlines’ flights from the UK to the US, southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand so clients can transfer to long-haul flights from Manchester and Heathrow on one booking. agent360.singaporeair.com

Encounters Travel managing director Ralph Faulds

believes it may be the first Nairobi to Cape Town overland trip for the UK market since the start of the pandemic. The company hopes to get back to eight a year in 2023. Faulds added: “The trips are split into sections so

you don’t have to do the whole trip.” So far up to 15 passengers are booked on various

legs of the camping-based itinerary. Other trips due to depart this year are the 42-week UK

to Cairo Trans Africa adventure on November 22 and an 11-day Patagonia trip in October. Most South America and central Asia overland trips will restart next year. Faulds hopes 30% of sales will go via agents by the end

of 2023, citing “big gaps” in the market after Dragoman mothballed operations. He said: “Oasis Overland was mainly direct-sell but we’re keen to change that.” oasisoverland.co.uk
