The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Protection: Credit cards don’t cover pipeline failures

Story: Trade rejects CAA proposal for compulsory segregation of customer money Clients paying by credit card to a travel agency that later fails will not receive a refund from their credit card issuer. A booking made at a travel agency becomes a contract between the client and the tour

operator. If the travel agency fails while holding ‘pipeline monies’ that have not been passed on to the tour operator, then the tour operator still has to honour the contract and provide the client’s holiday. Sue Roberts, agency sales manager, Crusader Holidays

Blame: Airlines at fault Story: Agents hit back at claims they were to blame for travel chaos Sandra Walters: If the flights were not on the systems, we couldn’t have booked them! What a ridiculous claim! Michelle Peacocke: The responsibility lies with the airports and airlines! The blame cannot be passed to anyone else – not the government, not travel agents. Ridiculous.

Sutton Travel @suttontravel Congratulations and a very well done to Julie for this week completing 10 years of loyal service at Sutton Travel. Here’s to the next 10!

Baldwins Travel @baldwinstravel We are absolutely thrilled [to win Royal Caribbean’s £30k pitch prize]. Thank you so much for a fantastic day and experience @RoyalCaribbean HQ, we can’t wait to get started with our idea.

Disruption: It’s 50:50 Story: Boss of BA owner blames ministers for airport disruption Brendan Christopher De Souza: It’s 50:50. The UK government should learn from how other countries handled the pandemic and airlines should never have recklessly planned flight schedules they could never achieve.

Agents: Fight for clients Agent Diary: Look out for one another as we battle the latest travel crisis Paul Howarth: When will agents stop being apologists for airlines and operators and start lobbying for those who pay their wages – the customers? [Some suppliers] have treated their customers appallingly.
