A tour operator that specialises in holidays for amateur singers is keen to work with agents whose clients atend local choirs. Run by Singers, a member of
The Specialist Travel Association (Aito), operates trips to destinations where clients can practise under the tuition of singing coaches and perform a concert. Managing director Nick
Couchman said the operator, which
has been established for nearly 20 years, was open to discussions with agent partners. “We are looking for experienced
amateur singers who are members of a choir,” he said. “Lots of the public are interested in what we do and if travel agents have clients who are interested, it is something new to add to their portfolio.” He said singing had become
even more popular as the benefits of wellness activities had been promoted more widely.
Basilica of St Francis, Assisi in Italy Destinations include Venice,
Rome and Paris as well as the UK. Group sizes vary from 50 to 70. Director Jane Osgathorp said:
“We take them somewhere they can immerse themselves in the country or city, and if we can, we will link a place with a composer or era; you can sing Venetian music in Venice with a concert at the end of it, usually in a cathedral.
“We create a choir and put the concert on, do the marketing and provide the musicians.” Five days in Venice including
four nights’ bed and breakfast accommodation and two evening meals costs from £945. Flights are not included. Commission payments would
be negotiated individually.
