Inspire a Valentine’s Day getaway with places steeped in romantic tales, says Alice Barnes-Brown
s Valentine’s Day nears, it must be love, love, love on your clients’ minds – and you can capitalise on those warm and fuzzy
feelings by selling a trip somewhere seriously romantic. Farther afield than traditional ‘cities of love’ such as
Paris or Venice, there are plenty of ways to give clients their own love story while making a lifetime of memories. Whether they’re planning to propose in a picture-perfect spot, want to celebrate a special anniversary or are simply looking for a romantic escape à deux, these destinations are linked to all things love. From awe-inspiring natural wonders to magnificent monuments to love, here’s some inspiration for Valentine’s-themed social media posts to show how you can add romance to any trip.

Verona, Italy Verona will be in the spotlight this month as the location of the Winter Olympics closing ceremony, but the city’s amorous appeal goes far beyond its cobbled streets, vine-covered palazzos and impressive Roman amphitheatre. It’s also the setting for not one but two Shakespeare plays: Romeo & Juliet and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Fans of the former can take inspiration from the story of the star-crossed lovers with a visit to Casa di Giulietta, a medieval tower house located at Via Cappello 23. It features a Gothic balcony overlooking the piazza, which is a relatively recent addition but still gives clients a chance to have their Romeo moment, before a sunset walk across Ponte Pietra bridge or to the
heights of Castel San Pietro for stunning city views. Book it: Kirker Holidays sells a three-night stay at city-centre hotel Vista Verona from £1,748 per person, based on two sharing. Includes breakfast, transfers and flights.
